How to: Encrypt Your Windows Device
Last Reviewed: December 01, 2016
We are in the process of updating several guides, including this one, and are aware that some of this information is out of date.
This page previously included a guide to using Diskcryptor, a third-party tool for encrypting Windows files and disks. Diskcryptor has not been updated since 2014, and its Webpage is currently unavailable. In addition, many users had problems using Diskcryptor with UEFI systems or Windows 10 installations.
It's important that security software is updated and maintained. We are investigating alternative tools for full disk encryption for standards Windows users. (Windows Pro provides BitLocker, Microsoft's own disk encryption utility.)
